This is the time that skiers and snowboarders gather in the Plose resort to carve their way down beautifully prepared slopes. There are runs to suit all ages and levels. Ability and good condition are needed if you want to attempt South Tyrol’s longest descent, the Trametsch at 11 kilometres!

The Plose is one of the most child-friendly ski areas in the country, so is particularly well suited to families.

In the cold winter months, South Tyrol’s life in full bloom gives way to a wonderful silence. Father Frost has taken command, and turned all the meadows and lakes into snowy plains of virginal purity. They tempt winter boots or skates to make the first tracks in the fresh white, while cross-country skiers can follow tracks through sleeping nature. More romantic still is a trip by horse-drawn sledge or a visit to the Christmas markets in Brixen or Meran. Winter evenings on the Plose are the essence of comfort, peace and jollity. With a warming cup of tea, people meet to set the world to rights and chat in the lounge around a warm stove, and in the Residence Alpenrose holiday apartments, the scene is particularly cosy.
